Frequently Asked Questions
I am wondering what is in the antimicrobial finish on your handles?
Although the actual makeup of our antimicrobial finish is proprietary, it is made up of common materials that are used to make many products that we use and wear daily. Some of the materials are even present as trace elements in our bodies. I will say that these materials are much safer than the stainless steel that is so common in our homes today, because it kills microbes on contact, and stainless steel does not.
Will it rub off on my hands?
No, it is a finish which is applied just like most of the other finishes on your current handles and knobs, none of which rub off on your hands or leave residues of any kind.
Will it create super bugs?
No, these finishes are made up of materials that have been known to kill microbes on contact for some time, and as stated previously they are made up of common materials that we use and wear daily. This is not a new scientific discovery, but a well-known scientific fact that the materials in our finishes are known to kill the germs that make people sick.
Is it harmful for children?
No, it is actually beneficial for children, because it kills the microbes which make children sick. And as mentioned earlier these materials are used in our daily lives and are known to be safe.
Can it be restored after ten years?
Our claim that the finish lasts for at least ten years was a conservative estimate. If well cared for, our finishes should last indefinitely as they are applied just like the finishes on your current hardware. Care instructions are simple: just keep the surface clean of oxidation with one of many natural cleaning agents to insure that the surface is clean and has the most surface area to kill germs.
